What is goSaffron Forex Travel Card?

It is a prepaid foreign currency card which makes your overseas trip hassle free and convenient when it comes to managing money abroad. It is a secure way to carry your forex cash. You can pre load this prepaid foreign currency card in India in the currency you are travelling to and use it to withdraw cash in local currencies or use it at any POS (Point of Sale Terminals) or over the internet for your purchases. It is a perfect substitute of debit or credit cards in foreign countries.

How does this pre-paid card work?

Your pre-paid Travel card is loaded with funds at the time of purchase. You can use the card for cash withdrawal or for shopping at merchant outlets. With each transaction, the remaining value on the card decreases. You can continue to use your card as long as some funds remain on the card account. You can reload more money even while you are abroad by topping up the card online.

When you return to India you can reload the card with more funds before your next trip when you return to India

Can this card be used in India?

No! You can use the card only for checking the balance and changing the PIN at Axis Bank ATMs. No financial transactions are allowed in India, Nepal & Bhutan, under FEMA guidelines.

How long will it take me to receive my card?

Once you ordered, Personalised named Card will be delivered within 7-10 working days and unnamed card will be delivered within 2-3 working days.

Can I buy more than one goSaffron Forex Travel Card?

You are entitled to purchase one card of each currency. You can however buy more than one card in different currencies. You can also buy Travel Card for your spouse or children. For this, Identity and other details have to be provided of the respective cardholders.

Can I get one card loaded with multiple currencies, if I am travelling to two countries?

No. if you are travelling to more than one country on a single trip, then we can issue more than one card to you, although in different currencies, within the overall RBI approved limits for the trip. However it would not be possible to load more than one currency on a single card as every card is currency specific.

Is remote Loading of the card possible?

Yes you can recharge your card anytime. To recharge your card, you need to log in your account using your registered email address and password. Select the card you need to recharge. You need to submit 'Recharge form' online. The funds will be loaded on to your card immediately.

What forex rates are charged at the time of purchase?

The foreign exchange rate you get is the ongoing rate of that day when you apply for the card.

Can I transact in currencies other than base currency (dollar, euro, etc) using the Travel Card?

Yes, goSaffron Forex Travel Card allows transactions (cash withdrawal and point-of-sale transaction) in any local currency. For any currency other than the base currency, there will be an exchange rate which will be applied.

What exchange rates are applied when a transaction is made on the card?

For transactions done in the base currency, there is no exchange rate applicable. However, for transactions other than in the Base Currency, rates would apply.
These rates are generally more favourable than the rates offered by money changers*.

*For cross currency usage, you will be charged 3% on the transaction volume.

How much foreign currency can I load into the card?

Usage of the card should be in strict accordance with the Reserve Bank of India and FEMA regulations. The card can load with USD 10,000 or equivalent currency in a year.

Corporate traveller can load up to USD 25,000 or equivalent currency for every business trip.

How can I use this Card to withdraw Cash?

To withdraw cash, you would need to insert your card into any Visa /Visa Plus / MasterCard ATM machine overseas and follow the instructions on screen. Enter your PIN and indicate the amount you want to withdraw in the local currency. The requisitioned cash will be dispensed in the local currency of the country you are in.

What is my PIN?

Your PIN (Personal Identification Number) is a unique 4 digit secure number assigned to your card and known only to you. It allows you to withdraw cash from VISA/ VISA Plus / MasterCard ATMs worldwide. This PIN can be changed (only) at any Axis Bank ATM in India.

Do the ATM receipts show the amount withdrawn and balance available?

Most of the VISA ATMs have the capability of displaying the amount withdrawn and balance available in the local currency

What options should I choose to withdraw cash from the ATM?

Generally, the options available at the ATM for cash withdrawal are "Checking", "Credit", and "Savings". You should choose the "Checking/Current" option. In case the Checking/Current option is not available, you should select the "Credit" option. The Savings option does not link to the VISA network and hence the transaction would not be successful

What if I have forgotten my ATM PIN?

The Card gets blocked for use at ATMs, if the card has been used with the wrong ATM PIN more than 3 times. This is for your own security and to prevent any fraudulent use on the card. If you have forgotten your PIN, you may write to fx@gosaffron.com for generation of a new PIN.

What are the debit charges in case of usage at Telephones or Petrol pumps abroad?

The Telephones or petrol pumps generally debit US$ 1 equivalent at the time of card insertion. The total amount debited is inclusive of this US $1, which will be reflected as 2 different entries in the system.

Can I know more about pre-authorizations taken at Hotels/ Car Rentals/ Cruise liners? and what needs to be done in such cases?

 

You can use the card to pay your Hotel bills at the time of check-out. However, please avoid using your card for checking-in (pre-authorization) at hotels. If you choose to use your card at the time of check in, the funds on your card will be blocked till such time that the bills are finally settled. To prevent blocking of funds please make sure that all the test swipes are cancelled.

 

If you have already settled your bill through other mode, please request the Hotel to send a scanned copy of the Authorization Cancellation letter on the letterhead of the hotel's settlement Bank or on the hotel's letterhead to us via E-mail. Further, the hotel should state that you have settled this bill through some other mode and they don’t need the authorization taken any more.

 

If you have already checked out from the hotel and unable to provide the letter, you may provide us with the copy of the final paid bill which contains the check-in and check-out dates & mode of payment.

 

If the Hotel claims that the transaction was declined at their end then you should request the Hotel to send us scanned copy of the letter through email stating that you have settled this bill through some other mode and they will not be raising any claims against your card from us.

Whom should I contact, in case I have any dispute on a transaction?

Please tell me more about Lost Card Liability Insurance Cover?

Lost Card Liability Insurance of up to Rs. 2,00,000/-: In case the card is lost or stolen, then you are protected for Lost Card Liability of up to Rs. 2,00,000/- provided by M/s Bajaj Allianz on Travel Currency Card. This insurance is valid from the time you report the loss of the card to us.

The misuse, loss or theft of the Go Saffron Forex Travel Card should be reported to us immediately. Although loss or theft may be reported by means of the 24/7 Customer Service, you must confirm the same in writing to us as soon as possible within a reasonable time period.

Please note it is mandatory to lodge a police complaint /FIR for making a claim in the event of loss and misuse of the card. Transactions done at an ATM with a valid PIN will not be covered under the insurance cover.

How can I apply for a refund on my card?

To apply for refund, log in your account using your email address and password. Select the card you want to get refund. You need to submit 'Refund form' online. The funds will be transferred to your bank account.

At what rates will my funds get refunded?

The foreign exchange rate you get is the ongoing rate of that day when you apply for the refund.

What do I do if my card is lost or stolen?

You can call us at 33150000 or send an email to fx@gosaffron.com to report a lost or stolen card. Our Customer Service Executives will immediately block the lost card and prevent it from further use and arrange to send you a replacement card within 2 working days. It is important to note that a lost Card report will be taken only after verification of your Mother's maiden name, Date of Birth, Passport No etc.

Is there any other way in which I can keep a track of my balance and the latest transactions?

You can access the Internet banking module, iConnect for keeping a track of your balances and the transactions done on your card. The Internet banking user id is mentioned on the sticker placed on the welcome kit. The password is enclosed in the welcome kit in a sealed envelope for security reasons. You can visit the web-site www.axisbank.com. Select the "Logon to net Banking" section on the top left hand side to access the service.

What should I do if I lose my Travel Card/ATM PIN or Internet banking password?

In case of loss of card, ATM PIN or the Internet banking password, you are requested to write to fx@gosaffron.com.
